“CBS This Morning” developed the series “A More Perfect Union” on the eve of the 2016 Presidential Election. At the time, the country was in the midst of one of the most divisive political campaigns in modern history. The series is an effort to shine a light on another narrative: what unites us as Americans is far greater than what divides us. In addition to producing pieces for this project, I helped coordinate installments with other members of our team.

A “Journey to Heal” is among my favorite pieces I’ve produced for “CBS This Morning.” It features two parents taking on a feat of endurance and bravely sharing their story. Kaye Jordan and Michael Perich both lost sons in military service to the U.S. They embarked on a thirty-seven hundred mile cross-country bike ride to raise awareness for Gold Star families like theirs and honor all who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I also shot a lot of the footage in this package with a GoPro mounted on a Karma Grip while biking along the muddy trails. It was just plain fun to field produce. Dana Jacobson wrote much of the piece with minor assists from me. I tape produced it as well.
