Have you ever seen the Intel commercial with the tag line: “Our rock stars aren’t like your rock stars”? I felt that way at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. While most journalists chased the athletes’ stories, we covered the business behind the games. I worked to set up headlining interviews and segments for two weeks worth of coverage for “Power Lunch” Anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera. This included interviews with top executives of several major Olympic sponsors including Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO Muhtar Kent (video below), Hudson’s Bay Company Chairman Richard Baker (video below), Getty Images CEO Jonathan Klein, and Teck Resources Limited President and CEO Don Lindsay.

I also got the opportunity to work alongside top teams from NBC News.

Here are two of our segments:

The Coca-Cola Company has been an Olympic sponsor since 1928. This is our interview with Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO Muhtar Kent, which broadcast live from the company’s pavilion in downtown Vancouver.

The signature Canadian maple leaf mittens became essential apparel at the Vancouver Games. We got our hands on a few pairs during our interview with Hudson’s Bay Company Chairman Richard Baker.
